WOW!!!!

So I have always heard that having a baby, working full time, and trying to have a life is hard, and before baby days I would have acknowledged that I could imagine how hard it would be, but I never thought it would be this tough. I am having a lot of fun but currently I am working full time, I am in a Master's program, and every spare minute I have I want to spend with my wonderful boys. It definitely make for a full and busy life. I wish I could keep up with this blog, but currently I do not know how that is going to be possible. So, a quick update.

4 months old

When Chris and I started dating every month was a special milestone. We celebrated every month of our new relationship, but then at some point (I think when we hit a year) the monthaversaries stopped, and for some reason we began to only allow ourselves to celebrate our commitment to one another once a year. Now that baby is here our monthly celebrations are back and more fun than ever.

CHRISTOPHER IS FOUR MONTHS OLD, and I can hardly believe it. I took him to the doctor on Thursday and the Doctor said he is PERFECT. Maybe she did not use those exact words but that is what I deduced from her comments. He is 17.6 pounds and 27 inches long. Although that puts him in the 95th percentile and means that he is closer to the size of a six month old than a four month old, his weight is proportionate to his height and he is growing steadily, so it is all good.

He had to get two more shots and when they gave him the first one he did not even cry. No such luck when he got the second one, but overall it was a much better experience then the last time he got shots. Last time he slept all day and would not really eat. This time he got home and had this smile on his face:

Such a happy boy!

So many changes

It really is an amazing process seeing baby Christopher change from day to day. He is no longer that floppy little baby that needed my support for everything. He has complete control of his head now, and when I hold him he looks around at the world with such interest. He definitely knows who mommy and daddy are and watches us all of the time. When Chris gets home from work, his entire face lights up. Yesterday Chris got home and took him out of my arms. I began to pick up around the house and his little eyes followed me everywhere I went. When I went up the stairs he strained his neck to follow me the entire way. So cute!

He grabs toys, bites things, and is even trying to sit up on his own. If we lay him down on his blanket to play and he doesn't want to be laying down he will lift up his head like he is trying to sit up on his own. He even found his feet. I know it sounds silly, but I find it fascinating when he looks at them and grabs them. He finds it fascinating too :)

One of the best changes lately has been the laughs! If I could listen to one sound for the rest of my life it would be Christopher's laugh. A couple of weeks ago we had to work really hard for a laugh. We found a pretty good tickle spot on his stomach and would spend some time working him up to it. Today, he started giving them out like candy. I looked at him with a weird face and he gave me a little chuckle! The BEST! He also found peek-a-boo terribly funny.

I know that anyone who has a child has witnessed these things, but for me, a first timer, I am amazed everyday! Some laughs for daddy at the zoo

Here is a video of a few little laughs. You can mostly just hear his dad laugh but it is the best example I have so far.

Best Friends

Auntie Keely got him this blue elephant and he loves it. He will smile at him and talk to him forever. The other day Christopher was fussy. I put him next to his elephant and he started smiling and talking. They have become fast friends.

No more pictures!

Christopher has been smiling like a maniac and has been giving the most heart-melting coos and giggles, but I have not been able to share this with anyone because...he is afraid of the camera! It all started a couple of weeks ago. Up until that point, he was oblivious when the camera came out. He would go about his cute business while I shot away. But now every time I try to capture a picture or a video of him he stops dead in his tracks as soon as he sees it. I have even tried to hide the camera, make him laugh, and then pull it up really quick to take the picture but this is all I get:Still adorable, but doesn't he look scared :)

Apparently he is a beast!

Christopher had his two month appointment and apparently he is a beast. He weighed in at a whopping 15 lbs 3 oz and measured 25 1/4 inches. He is above the 95th percentile in both categories. I know he is a big kid, but I did not realize how big until I took him to a Mommy and Me class at the hospital the next day. I didn't have any other babies his age to compare him to, so to me he was just normal, but when we put him next to the other kids in class it was very clear that he is a BIG BOY! He is the same weight and height as two 5 month olds in the class! He is also quite the ladies man. One of the five month olds is the cutest little girl and he could not take his eyes off of her. He was smiling and trying to roll over her way. Too cute! I guess he is not intimidated by an older woman :)

Just like daddy

It is crazy to see how much Christopher is like his daddy. Even at two months, it is apparent that they are two peas in a pod. For example
  • they have the same name (not really a personality characteristic)
  • They are both a Taurus (Christopher 5/10/10, Daddy 5/18/81)
  • They were exactly the same size when they were born! 8 lbs, 10 oz and 21 inches long
  • They both fart a lot :)
  • They are both chill! They are easygoing, smiling, friendly guys that never really make a fuss about anything.
  • They are both extremely cute ;)
  • And they both have a swirl of hair in the same place on their head!

Beach Baby

Last Friday I took Christopher to the beach. We walked around in the sand, slept, and even spotted a jellyfish in the water! I know scary. My mom was everyone's hero. She scooped up the jellyfish in a bucket and took it to a part of the beach where there were no kids. Brave!

Summer is finally here!!!

It has been really gloomy where I live lately. We live close to the beach, and every morning I was waking up to find it foggy and misty outside. That is no July weather. But the sun is out, the weather is gorgeous, and we are taking advantage of it. Yesterday we took a walk with Auntie Whitney by the water and then went to the park. It was a great way to enjoy the sun that we have been desperately waiting for.
Christopher got to finally break out the summer gear as well.
